Is Lunch Included?

Yes - we provide lunch (usually taken between 1.00 and 2.00pm) - together with water, tea or coffee and soft drinks throughout the day.

The menu is varied for multiple day courses.

We cater for all dietary requirements (from decaf coffee to vegan meals) which attendees can highlight on their pre-course questionnaire.

How many people attend open courses?

Typically there are between 3 and 4 people on our public open courses to ensure that each person receives personal attention.

We keep numbers to a minimum in order to ensure the quality of the training. Sometimes we'll recommend a bespoke training course if you need a specific skillset or combination of software skills, which is one of the reasons we recommend calling for a free consult before booking.

Do you offer customised training?

Yes absolutely!

We'll set up a course designed to meet your specific aims based around one - or several - of our training courses and often over a specific timeframe.

We tailor each course exactly to your needs, covering only those parts of any application that are essential to you and your organisation. As a result, individuals and organisations alike find that this type of training, although seemingly more expensive, can actually be more cost effective than attending public courses.

These short courses are delivered by one expert trainer for one ore more (we recommend 6 as a maximum) people from one company. We can also provide customised training notes if required, which you can take away to share with colleagues for an additional one-off fee.

Please contact us by telephone on 01732 833004. We will be happy to discuss your specific requirements and offer advice.

How many people typically attend a public course?

Typically there are between 3 and 4 (but not more than 6) people on our public open courses to ensure that each person receives personal attention.

Naturally, each attendee will have their own particular needs that they will wish to focus on and these are discussed at the time the course is booked and collated from the pre-course questionnaires we receive.

We therefore keep numbers to a minimum in order to cover these areas. However, should we consider it necessary then we would sometimes recommend a bespoke individual training course instead.

Open or On-demand training - what's the difference?

An open course is provided to any individual or company that requires training at a cost effective price, and CGT limit attendance on our open courses to a maximum of 6 attendees although the usual number is 4 or under.

Unlike other training providers, we prefer not to have larger numbers of attendees on our open courses. By restricting our class sizes, we can ensure that every attendee receives a better quality training experience - getting individual attention - and that attendees can be more closely matched in terms of their existing skills' level. View our scheduled open courses for more information.

Alternatively, our On-Demand training courses (also referred to as tailored training courses) provide private one-to-one training, with course content tailored to the individual's specific requirements. These cost-effective courses can then focus on what either the individual or a small group from one company specifically needs to cover, even to the extent of combining elements from different software, saving valuable time and money. We encourage the attendee to bring along examples of the type of work they wish to produce to guarantee that the training is immediately cost effective and productive.

After attending a course, you will be confident and productive!

Regardless of the sort course type chosen, we aim to provide flexible training service and to always provide the best and considered training to meet your specific needs and aims.

How much is a tailored course?

Prices vary per course but as a rule, if a company requires two or more people training on the same training course, it is usually more cost effective to book a tailored course, not least because it can sometimes cut down the overall time required.

Indeed, if you have a group of between 3 and 6 people, all requiring training on the same software, the tailored course is actually far less than sending them on an open course! Plus the focus of the training will be precisely what your aims are!

Please contact us on 01732 833004 for further information.

How long are the courses?

This depends on the type of course, subject and what you expect to achieve - please call if you would like to discuss duration of the courses.

See the individual Course Outline PDF for the precise duration.

Each course starts at 9.30am and finishes at approximately 4.30pm daily with refreshment breaks and lunch. (6.5 hours per day is known to be the maximum that most individuals can absorb in one day).

OK - I've booked, what happens next?

Once the course is booked, we will send you your Pre-Course Questionnaire and Joining Instructions by email.

We will also include:

  • Course Outline
  • Course Invoice - payable by BACS or cheque
  • Accommodation options (if required)

We request that you return your questionnaire and £100 deposit per person per day to us as soon as possible, with the remaining balance required no later than 10 days prior to the course commencing. Failure to meet this timescale could result in the cancellation of your booking.

The Pre-Course Questionnaire is a very important document, as it gives you the chance to outline your current IT skills, whether you use a Mac or Windows PC, which version of the software requested you use, areas you wish us to focus on during the course and your dietary requirements.

If you are booked on a bespoke One-to-One course then we will remind you to bring along examples of the work you wish to produce. In the meantime, should you have any questions then you can always contact us on 01732 833004.

Is there any funding available for a course?

Unfortunately, funding is not as freely available as it once was.

However, the Creative Skillset Diversity Fund (England) provides funding for training for employees and freelancers residing in England who are under-represented in the workforce, and can show they have worked in a paid, professional capacity over at least one year in the creative industries.

Individuals working in games, fashion and textiles, advertising and marketing communications, publishing, VFX, radio, animation, interactive media, facilities, photo imaging, TV and film are eligible to apply.

Grants are available to individuals from at least one of the following under-represented groups: women, disabled, black, Asian and non-white minority ethnic (BAME). Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals who belong to these groups are equally eligible.

We are also trying to help a little – inviduals who are self-funding and freelancers can qualify for 15% discounts on any open course

PLUS, we are now offering interest free credit terms on some multi-day courses of two or more days. To qualify you must pay one third of the total cost including VAT as a deposit and sign up for the remaining two payment by Direct Debit but please let us know if you wish to take advantage of this option.

And finally, remember if you have two or more people wanting to take a course, it can be more cost effective to take a tailored course.

Applicants may apply for funding to attend any course that they can demonstrate will benefit their career progression. You can chose a recognised training provider or search the Creative Skills database (CGT's courses are listed on the Creative Skillset database).

The fund's aim is to help people who may have worked in their industry for some time, but have hit barriers to their own development or progression.

Examples of types of training include but are not limited to:

  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Online courses
  • Masterclasses and workshops
  • Bespoke hourly training tailored to your needs

All training must be completed by 31 January 2016.

Applications for funding have to be completed online through the Creative Skillset website.

According to information published on the Gov.uk website there is a range of government support available to businesses through advice, guidance, information, grants, training and other services. There are a number of grants and loans available for start-ups and business development, many of which are area or region specific. To see if your business qualifies visit the Gov.uk website.

One area of funding listed on the Gov.uk website that may be particularly of interest to employers is the Government's Training for Success programme, which has been developed to ensure young people between the ages of 16-24 obtain training and development in areas which include work skills. You must be an employer with a maximum of 249 employees to access this funding.
